Hello! My name is Lausini. You’ve found me while I was working in the vineyards to help pick grapes at harvest time. My father then presses them to make wine for our family and friends.

Hi! My name is Ramtha and I’m an Etruscan girl 9 years of age.  My mother puts me in charge of watching our sheep while they are grazing.  Did you know you can take the anklebone of a sheep and make it into a piece for gaming?  My friends and I like to play with these astragali.

Salve! I am a Roman girl 9 years old named Fulvia. I love to help my family by fetching water from the well each day. My father measured the depth of the well by dropping an object on a rope to the bottom, and it is about 100 Roman feet deep.

Salvete, omnes! My name is Lucius and I am an 8-year-old Roman boy from Cetamura. I often go up to the village well to meet my friends. We have fun chasing chickens and playing with dice or a ball.

Buon giorno! That is how you say “Good morning”  in Italian. My name is Imilda and I am a 10- year-old girl from medieval Italy. Often I help in the orchards to pick fruit for the whole family or I join my mother to bake bread.

Hi there! My name is Rodolfo, and I’m a 12-year-old boy from the beautiful country of Italy. My family lives in a small hilltop castle and try to provide a good education for me. Sometimes I go to a school in the nearby city of Siena, where I have learned to read and write. Our books feature beautiful handwritten letters. Addio, farewell!
